First Responders Struggle With In-Building Radio Coverage

According to industry surveys, most emergency responders report having been impacted by poor in-building radio coverage…

  • 98% of Firefighters
  • 84% of EMS Technicians
  • 64% of Law Enforcement

For firefighters, almost every emergency they respond to is indoors. This means they are acutely aware of signal coverage problems as they try to communicate with fellow firefighters inside and with command personnel outside, while trying to deal with lurking threats to personal safety and the safety of others.

According to a survey conducted by the International Association of Fire Chiefs, almost 60% of fire departments have experienced a communications failure within a building during an emergency incident within the last two years.

The IAFC also studied post-incident reports and found that poor communication was high among the factors that led to many fatalities and injuries among firefighters.

Clearly, it is in the best interest of all public and private organizations in Virginia to have an in-building signal coverage assessment performed. This is an essential first step to protecting employees, first responders, and the community.

Arrange a site assessment to determine if poor signal coverage poses a risk to your people or property.
